French is, along with English, the only language spoken in all five continents. About 230 million people speak French. This is the second most opted and learned Foreign Language after English.

French is the official language in about 40 countries. It’s ranked as the second most influential language.

French is both a working language and an official language along with English in:

United Nations, European Union, UNESCO, NATO, International Labour Organisations, International Courts, UNICEF amongst others.




Proficiency in French is essential for anyone considering a career in such International Organisations.

Knowledge of French opens up opportunity for higher education at some of France’s best universities : La Sorbonne, Pierre Marie Curie University, etc.

Students with good knowledge of French may be eligible to apply for a French Government Grant to enrol for a Post-Graduate course of their choice in France.




Apart from the above-mentioned advantages, the Knowledge of French gives us the opportunity to access the literature of the French language. France has won the highest number of Nobel Prizes in Literature. Total 17 in literature. It has also won 11 Nobel Prizes in Physics and 11 in Physiology and Medicine.

French Literature is considered as the richest with great authors like Victor Hugo, Maupassant, Voltaire, Molière, Jules Vernes, Corneille, Antoine de Saint Exupéry to name a few. Some of the popular French poets are Charles Baudelaire, Jacques Prévost, de la Fontaine, etc.

Learning French provides a passage to Francophone countries and to France – the centre of fashion, gastronomy, art, architecture science and cinema. Paris is the most popular tourist centre in the world. Around 85 million tourists visit Paris every year. Paris is known as “La Ville Lumière” – The City of Lights with numerous monuments like Eiffel Tower, Le Louvre, Notre Dame, Sacré Coeur, Arc de Triomphe, La Géode, Le Centre George Pompidou, Les Invalides, etc.
